|
Alcatraz Island was a cold, isolated maximum-security prison housing the most hardened criminals of the day, which conincidentally offered glimpses of an enticing city that perhaps invoked longing and regret. It is suitable for children of ages 10 and above. It is not difficult to imagine what life here was like, but the moment you begin to feel inklings of sympathy for the incarcerated, a vividly told story of an attempted prison escape reminds the listener that these inmates were, for the most part, remorseless. Not surprisingly, most children, especially teenaged boys, find Alcatraz facinating.
