Packages can save you money because they are sold in bulk to tour agents, who sell them to the public. They offer group prices but allow for independent travel. The cons are that you are usually required to make a large payment up front; you may end up ona charter flight;and you have to deal with your own luggage and with transfers between your hotel and the airport, if transfers are not included in the package price.
Some packages offer a better class of hotels than others. Some offer the same hotels for lower prices than their competitors. Some offer flights on scheduled while others book charters. Your choices of travel days may be limited as well. Which package is right for your family depends entirely on what you want. Prices vary according to the season, seat availability, hotel choice,
whether you travel midweek or on the weekend, and other factors.
