Children are welcome at all kinds of hotels and in virtually every cafe and resturant. It's usually not hard to find an inexpensive babysitter; just ask at your hotel. Children pay full fare on Mexican long-distance buses unless they're small enough to sit on your lap.

Mexico City has a good, cheap metro and bus system. However, it can get extremely crowded. Some trains have cars reserved for women abd children, but avoid the metro except late in the morning, the evening and on Sundays. At peak times, the platforms can become dangerously packed with passengers and younger children may be intimated by the large crowds.
